family history endeavor of Michael Ragsdale
Project
Goals
The group was
started in hopes of being able to document or disprove
connections with Godfrey II.
Our goal is to test as many Ragsdale males as possible
in hopes of determining for sure if there is a "common"
Ragsdale ancestor in order to enable current, future,
and even non-participant researchers to expand their
research and knowledge base.
The group's special interest lies in those Ragsdale
males that are "documented" descendants of Godfrey II. I
am also looking to enlist Ragsdales from the United
Kingdom, where it is assumed that most, if not all,
Ragsdale ancestors would have originated.
In
response to the continuing interest of several members
of the Ragsdale Mailing List in a DNA project focused on
the Ragsdale surname, Michael Ragsdale and
www.RagsdaleFamily.org
has initiated such a project. Participation is not
limited to residents of the USA; any person with a
Ragsdale lineage (or some variant of this name, such as
Ragdale, Ragsdal, Ragsdill, Ragsdell) from anywhere in
the world is welcome and encouraged to participate.
Below is a brief description of the project, as well as
the procedures you should follow if you wish to
participate.
I personally have
only documented my Ragsdale ancestors through one
Jordan Ragsdale, circa 1810, Tennessee, thus I have
found NO connection to the famous (or perhaps
"infamous" would be a better word for those of us
Ragsdales trying to connect with this lineage)
Godfrey Ragsdale that probably 99% of the Ragsdale
researchers in the United States are trying to
connect with. What this project needs are
participants who have similar dead-ends, BUT,
MOST IMPORTANTLY, we need male descendants of
Godfrey Ragsdale and other well-established lines to
step up to the plate, sacrifice some DNA, and
possibly help put an end to a lot of speculation on
the part of Ragsdale researchers everywhere.
